Telecommunications Industry Dialogue participates in the Stockholm Internet Forum: Internet Privacy, Transparency, Surveillance and Control

On May 27-28, 2014, Industry Dialogue members Patrik Hiselius of TeliaSonera, Milka Pietikainen and Linda Peralta of Millicom, Laura Okkonen of Nokia, and Sidsela Nyebak of Telenor took part in the Stockholm Internet Forum (SIF) in Stockholm, Sweden. They met with policymakers, civil society representatives, activists, and other business representatives from around the world to discuss the SIF 2014 theme, “Internet privacy, transparency, surveillance, and control.”

Milka Pietikainen took part in a panel titled “Affordable, equal access: how to get the last billion online,” where she discussed the policies and strategies needed to create affordable, equal access to internet and telecommunications services worldwide, as well as issues of security and freedom of expression as they relate to connecting the next billion.
