Telecommunications Industry Dialogue participates in RightsCon

On March 3-5, 2014, Telecommunications Industry Dialogue Chair Yves Nissim of Orange and Patrik Hiselius of TeliaSonera took part in the RightsCon summit organized by Access in San Francisco, California.

By providing a forum for interaction with stakeholders from a wide range of regions and sectors, the event allowed the Industry Dialogue to explore how it can engage more systematically with stakeholders and support the formation of policies that respect freedom of expression and privacy more effectively in the digital age.

During the Game of Phones panel discussion, Yves Nissim addressed participants’ questions on a wide range of topics dealing with telecommunications companies.  Patrik Hiselius shared his perspective on the responsibility of multinational corporations for actions of their subsidiaries on a panel examining International Parent Company Responsibility for Human Rights.   Both participated in discussions focused on increasing transparency in the ICT sector and providing input into the methodology being used in the Ranking Digital Rights project.   A video of the Game of Phones panel is available here, and videos of other panels will be available on the RightsCon Web site in the coming weeks.
