The Telecommunications Industry Dialogue is a group of telecommunications operators and vendors who jointly address freedom of expression and privacy rights in the telecommunications sector in the context of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The initiative was launched in March of 2013.
The Industry Dialogue is based on a set of Guiding Principles addressing freedom of expression and privacy as they relate to the telecommunications sector. The advancement of freedom of expression and privacy globally can best be achieved through engagement between governments, industry, civil society, investors, supra-national organisations and other affected stakeholders. The Industry Dialogue welcomes new members in the telecommunications industry committed to advancing freedom of expression and privacy rights in the sector and engages in proactive dialogue with stakeholders.
